Rainbow Junk Journals

Well hello Blog.  It sure has been awhile!!  I am so glad to see you!! I have many exciting things to share!!!  Let’s start with the most recent!!

I’ve added 6 new journals to the Etsy shop CaraBrandonCreations.  Here are a few pictures. 🙂

I’ve also added some Junk Journal Color Kits.  For those who are Junk “Journalers” and need some cool fabric, lace, ribbon, vintage buttons, and retro ephemera I’ve created journal kits in each color.  Here are a few pictures of those.  (They are also listed in my Etsy shop. )

I also have flip through videos of each Journal.  You can find those here.  YouTube

I would have to say this is one of the biggest projects I’ve done as far as paper crafts goes.  I made the Orange Journal first and I was then inspired to create the entire rainbow.  I love all things rainbow!! It could be the preschool teacher part of me.  It could just be I love bright and vibrant.  ( I do like a pretty pastel pink too).

These colors.. make me smile!!  In Preschool color mixing and showing 4 year old’s that Red and Yellow mixed together makes Orange is one of my FAVORITE things to teach!!

I love using bright colors to decorate my classroom.  Here is a picture of my classroom a couple years back.  Hard to tell from this Photo.  (I’ll have to find better ones) But I have lots of rainbow colors going on. 🙂

When I was younger the Color Kittens book was my favorite!!

So I think all things bright and saturated with color have been inspiring to me for a very long time.

It has been so fun, scary, frustrating and exciting making these 6 journals.  I have learned so much about listing items in Etsy, and posting videos on Youtube and getting the “word out there” with my videos.  Again, another creative adventure milestone!

The Adventure Continues with Design Teams!!

I can’t believe it!!  I am so excited!! I decided to apply for two separate design teams, and they both said YES!!  You never know if you don’t try… Right!!!

The first is for ideas2come.  The owner’s name is Heather and she has an Etsy shop and Facebook group.  She recently introduced me on her Facebook page, this is what she said,

“Say Hello to Ideas2come new Creative Director Cara she has an awesome channel
Please go and check her out.”  Bursting with excitement!!!

I am so excited to be working with Heather on ideas for her Etsy shop.  She will have Junk Journal Kits in her shop soon.  I will have more on that in an upcoming blog.

The other Design team is for Junk That Treasures.  On Etsy the shop name is JunkThatTreasures.  The owner of the shop, Sarah just sent me all kinds of Junk Journal goodies that I will be using in my projects.  I am currently uploading the unboxing video to youtube.  I will have that linked below so you can check out the selection of fun stuff in her shop.

With being on the design teams I will be making some crafty things and videos to go along with the items.

Please hop on over to Etsy and look for Ideas2come

Thanks!!! More to come!! Stay Tuned. 🙂

Do I have to Pick?

creative people

Today I’m writing about how there are so many crafts, paper crafts that I want to continue learning and exploring.  The thing is time. There is not enough time to dabble and do them all.  Is there?  Here’s my dilemma.  I love it all!!  I feel like I’m a schizophrenic crafter.  I want to do this, then that, now back to this.  It can be dizzying even for me.  Imagine what my husband and kids must think!!  “Mom, what are you doing NOW? ” 🙂

This schizophrenic paper craft whirlwind began with The happy planner which I still love to add stickers to and plan my week.  Then I wanted to do swaps, pocket letters, flipbooks.  Then this went to scrapbooking both traditional and pocket pages.. do you see where I’m going.  Now it’s junk journals.  I love them all.  I love paper, I love embellishments, paint glue. You name it.  But, do I have to pick due to time?

I am a mother of 2 kiddos, a wife and a teacher.  Thank goodness for summer!! I have had time to explore all things paper! But reality of a new school year is right around the corner.  Do I have to pick?

Along with paper crafting I’ve tried my hand with YouTube and of course this blog.  I am loving the process of learning how to blog, and post videos.   All of this has been so fun!

So for today, I’m going to say no.  I don’t have to pick.  I may have to pick what I will work on for the day, hour or minute.  But I can love all things paper.  Who knows maybe with all of this craziness I’ll find what sticks!  I have dreams of an Etsy shop, or craft shows one day.  I think all of this exploring will help me find which one will lead to my dream.

The art of creativity is letting go, and enjoying it all.  Perhaps it is in small bits of time here and there.  But if it makes my heart sing.  If you have found a crafty “thing” that makes your heart sing, or 9,243 crafty things, you don’t have to pick.  Just relax and enjoy it!

Happy crafting!
